What is your current title and how long have you been in this role?
"Owner & primary photogrpaher of Tropical Focus Photography. We’ve been around for 9 years; the last 4 here in the St. Pete Beach area."
Can you explain how and why you ended up owning this business?
"Photography was my childhood passion and continued to be my hobby through a career focused on engineering and technologies. One day, I woke and something changed. When I told my wife I’d decided to become a photography professional, she said “finally” with a smile. We were living in the Caribbean at the time, so we gravitated to tourism related work – vacation portraiture, coverage for local businesses and tourism organizations. "
"When I told my wife I’d decided to become a photography professional, she said “finally” with a smile. "
What was your passion or greatest motivator?
"First it was photography itself – it let me see the world a little differently, even as a little kid. When Tropical Focus Photography was born, the motivator was “make a living through photography while having an extraordinary life”. I was living in a tropical paradise and made the beaches my studio.
My passion for photography is a constant in my life."
What has been your proudest moment within this business?
"It happened just yesterday - seriously."
"For the 4th year in a row, a national organization committed our services for their 2017 annual meeting in St. Pete Beach. Returning clients are everything in a tourism services business. It means I’ve done a good job in the past and so have my fellow Chamber members. These types of visitors benefit our whole community in a broad way and getting those calls makes me very proud indeed."
