Message from the President
January 2011
Dear Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce Member:
Happy New Year! As your team at the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce sits back and reflects on the year that is behind us some words come to mind:
• Spectacular
• Dynamic
• Involved
• Community
• Accomplished
• Fun
• Proactive
• Innovative
• Professional
• Caring
• Advocate
• Informative
These words not only describe how we feel while we work for you, but how we feel when we think of our wonderful membership of businesses.
In 2010 the numbers speak for themselves:
• Signed 142 new members
• Nearly 150,000 Visitors
• Distributed 35,000 Guides and 10,000 Community Guides
• Over 600 attendees to all major events
• Over 1000 attendees to our mixers and Learn @ Lunches
• Recipient of CVB Cooperative matching marketing dollars
• Recipient of Pinellas County Economic Development BAPS Grant
We look forward to sustaining and even increasing some of these accomplishments this year.
Finally, Deep Horizon! No I am not speaking of an Oil Spill, though this year was significant in terms of Oil. Your chamber started speaking loud and clear when our Legislatures tossed around the idea of lifting a state ban on drilling; we hosted forums on this issue and gathered letters of opposition. On April 20th, the events that occurred changed our Tourism Economic climate and how we do business for years to come. So, I say “Deep Horizon” as in we stare deep into the Horizon for a better year ahead!
As we move into 2011, remember to use your chamber members when you need goods and services. Please do not hesitate to call upon us should you need anything.
The Beach is our Business,
Robin A. Sollie
President
